Main Line Classical Academy is currently planning to open for in-person classes on Tuesday, October 13th, 2020.

Updated September 1st 2020.

Main Line Classical Academy is continually monitoring the pandemic and will reassess the decision on October 12th, 2020.

Because of precautions surrounding COVID-19, Main Line Classical Academy is virtual until further notice. Below is the current plan and track options:

  • MLCA@Home: The first three days of school will be an on-campus orientation for all students. This will be an inspirational mini-week for students and faculty to make connections and get off to a great start. Families will be picking all the necessary materials  for virtual learning. MLCA@Home will start on Monday September 14th, 2020.

  • For Kindergarten: MLCA has extended childcare on campus only to our Kindergartners from 9:00am-3:30pm during all school days. They will follow MLCA@Home from the school building starting September 14th 2020. In addition they will have outdoor activities and story time.

  • Guided Homeschool Track. As we plan for a school year during the pandemic, we recognize how important flexibility is for our families as each family faces unique challenges during this time. Some parents have found that their child has trouble focusing on Zoom, or experiences eye strain. Others are not comfortable sending their child to school until there is a readily available vaccine. Thus, both the virtual and the in-person options may pose challenges for some MLCA families. To help accommodate this range of needs, we will be offering a Guided Homeschool Track which parents can choose either during virtual learning, or once we are back on campus, or both. Under this model, parents take responsibility for making sure their child makes satisfactory progress in the MLCA curriculum, but faculty provide support to ensure a seamless transition to in-person learning when the time comes. Tuition is the same as other tracks.

MLCA@Home

The education world has changed since the advent of COVID-19 and we have pivoted to new platforms!  Our students continue to learn great things with MLCA@Home, our remote learning program.

Please review the June 2020 Academic Newsletter to get a sense of what was accomplished from March-June 2020 with MLCA@Home. We are grateful for our small class size which enables us to accomplish a lot.

Over the summer, after gathering parent and faculty feedback, we adjusted our MLCA@Home program, making it more efficient and smooth for effective learning. We created  purposeful and time efficient schedules, based on grades and age of the students. We switched to Google Classroom for homework assignments and communications about classes. We continue to use the Zoom platform for all of our classes, which are live. We have conducted several faculty training sessions to give our teachers more online teaching tools and an even better command of the platforms. We have a handbook for remote learning that sets consistent expectations and guidelines for faculty, parents and students. These measures above will help support our students as they set out this fall to learn great things at MLCA.

While we are making the most of online learning, we long for the day when we will be able to be on campus again. We wish you good health and patience as we get through these challenging times.

MLCA@Home Fall 2020 Schedules will be available in the Parent Portal soon.
